Gypsy Lynn Wright, a beloved resident of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on Sunday, August 22, 1948, in the same town she called home her entire life, Gypsy was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
A devoted alumna of Whitehall Yearling High School in Columbus, Ohio, Gypsy spent much of her career as a respected cook and co-owner of the 19th St. Country Club. Her hardworking spirit and dedication were also felt during her time at Dils Brother Department Store, Montgomery Wards, and Personal Touch Boutique. Known for her welcoming smile and culinary delights, Gypsy brought warmth and kindness to every endeavor she pursued.
She was a woman of varied interests and passions. She found joy in scrapbooking and adored her five cherished cats. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful gardens, and she delighted in shopping and visiting the Amish Country. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and she was an active member of the Independent Baptist Church in Vienna.
Gypsy is survived by her devoted husband, David Wright; her loving sons, Darin "Woody" Wright (Stacey) and Kevin Wright; her grandchildren, Breahna Backus (Nathaneal), Sierra Wright, and Robert Wright (Jessica); and her great-grandchildren Ryland, Emberlynn, Jeremy, Addison, Octavia, and Lillyahna. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Joe Wright (Sallie), sisters-in-law Patty Lyons and Peach Lyons, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gypsy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joan Lyons, and her brothers Derek and Gregory Lyons.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor and celebrate Gypsy's life during her funeral service, which will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home in South Parkersburg with Pastor Mike Elder. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be available on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
In leiu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg. Gypsy's radiant spirit and generous heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
