Gordon Lee Woodyard

Gordon Lee Woodyard, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 10, 1930, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Richard L. Woodyard Sr. and Reta Taylor Woodyard. Gordon was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served on board the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Korean War. Gordon retired from Storcks Bakery after 30 years. Gordon also worked for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years in civil process. He was a member of the Williamstown Lodge #129 AF&AM and also was a former 50 year member of Mt. Olivet #3 AF&AM. He enjoyed deer hunting and yard work and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler’s Fan. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Donna E. Williams Woodyard; son, Rick Woodyard (Della Matheny) of Mineral Wells; sister, Judy Leep (John) of Vienna; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Louise Flug and Sally Ware; and one brother, Richard L. Woodyard Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor John Lowther officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Mineral Wells. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
