Amos Glenn Henson, 93, of Vienna passed away December 24, 2019 at Worthington Manor. He was born November 12, 1926 in Forest City, North Carolina to the late Simpson B. Henson and Jimmie Hill Henson and raised on a sharecropper’s farm during the Great Depression. Glenn quit school to join the Marine Corp and served in World War II from 1944 to 1946 on Okinawa and into China. Afterwards, Glenn completed his education and went on to college graduating from Gardner Webb and receiving his mechanical engineering degree from North Carolina State. While completing his education, Glenn was a First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves. He worked for E.I. Dupont Corporation for over 35 years. He was a member of the Vienna Baptist Church and was active in the community serving on the Vienna Recreation and Improvement Associate, coaching minor league baseball, indoor hockey and many other activities. In later years, he served as Vienna’s representative to the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority. Glenn is survived by his sons, Ronald and Karen Henson of Florida, Carl and Teresa Henson of Vienna and Brian Henson of Vienna; grandchildren Jonathan Henson, Alexander Henson and Elizabeth Hamperian; and his youngest sister, Mary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Frances Genes Henson; and a son William S. Henson. and his family by sisters and brothers Lula, J.B., Reba Clara, S.B., Ruth and Floyd Henson. Funeral services will be p.m. 1 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Vienna Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Pratt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna.
