George Kyer Scott

George Kyer Scott, 77 of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Belpre Landing Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Home, Belpre, Ohio. He was born August 17, 1939 in Charleston, W.Va., a son of the late George Madison and Lenora Catherine Kyer Scott. George is survived by his wife, Frances Mills Scott, married April 11, 1980; his son, Richard Madison Scott of Portland, Oregon; his grandchildren, Isaac Winfield, Julia Corrine and Bonnie Madison Scott all of Portland; step-daughter, Kristine Taylor (Dale) Durst of Summerville, SC; step-grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler and Tanner Durst all of Summersville; Jeremy Harold (Miseon Lee) Squires of Omaha, Nebraska, Catherine Estelle' Squires (Cory) Farrell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Robert Winfield (Susan) Scott of Bidwell, Ohio; nephew, Robert Winfield (Shannon) Scott II of Bidwell; great-nephew, Cameron Winfield (Ashlee) Scott of Bidwell; and great niece, Madison Nicole Scott of Bidwell. In addition to his parents, George Madison Scott and Lenora Catherine Kyer Scott, he was preceded in death by his son, Randall Mark Scott. George was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Los Angeles (CA 135) Heavy Cruiser. George retired in 1992 after 30 years of service from Ravenswood Aluminum. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America over 50 years and served in various positions including Scout Master – Board of Review for Eagle Scouts – weighed cars for the Pine Wood Derby, but currently was a Committee Member of Troop 43 in Ravenswood. George is a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 172 in Vienna, W.Va. and was a Past Master.George donated his body to the West Virginia Human Gift Registry. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
