George Ray Moore

George Ray Moore, 92, departed this earthy life on June 2, 2024 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. George was born May 17, 1932 in Gilmer County WV. He was a US Navy veteran and retired from the Wood County Board of Education where he had been an elementary teacher and principal. George Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Evelyn V. Moore and also his second wife of 15 years, Christine E. Moore. George Ray is survived by his sister, Ella Jane (Robert) Smith; nephew, Aaron (Chrissy) Smith; and great niece Brynleigh all of Normantown, WV. He is also survived by two daughters, Violet (Monty) Stoops and Elaine (Hank) Rinehart, all of Leachtown, WV. He also has surviving three grandchildren, Lynette Stoneking, Sara (Adam) Dunn, and Doug (Amanda) Rinehart; and five great-grandchildren, Stella, Ava, Elli, Silas, and Abel. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation. A short service will be held at the gravesite only, 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Vaught Chapel United Methodist Cemetery at Leachtown, WV with Pastor Tom Hall officiating. George requested that donations would be given to your charity of choice in lieu of flowers. George’s family wishes to thank the staff of the WV Veterans Nursing Facility for their excellent care and compassion. Also, many thanks to WVU Hospice. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moore family.
