Gary Lee Farnsworth, 71, of Vincent, OH passed away March 19, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1946 in Parkersburg, son of the late Charles A. and Mable Walker Farnsworth. He was a 1964 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1969 graduate of Glenville State College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was retired from Johns Manville. Gary was a published poet and also enjoyed golfing and snow skiing. He is survived by a son, Jason Farnsworth of Parkersburg; a sister, Sara Bailey (David) of Coolville, OH; two grandchildren, Jayden Hogue and Jordan Charles Farnsworth; and former wife and friend, Pat Westbrook (Earl) of Parkersburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Adam Farnsworth in Aug. 2000; and two sisters, Martha Nichols and Barbara Knotts. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with The Rev. Arthur Bennett III officiating. Full military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Gary's memory to, Mid-Ohio Valley Veterans Support Group at Counseling and Wellness Center, 936 Market St. Parkersburg, WV 26101.
