A Memorial Video to Gary is now available on this site. Gary Dale Deem 79, of Vienna, passed away March 7, 2016 at Worthington Manor. He was born February 18, 1937 in Wood County, WV, the son of the late Guy and Jennie Wright Deem. Gary graduated from Parkersburg High School and served four years in the US Air Force. He received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Parkersburg Community College and retired from the City of Vienna as Police Chief after 44 years of service. He was a former Wood County Commissioner, Past President of the WV Chief's of Police Assoc., longtime coach for Vienna Recreation, former member of the Vienna V.F.D., a 32nd. Degree Mason and a member of the FOP Lodge #79. Gary was a longtime member of Calvary Temple Evangelical Church and attended Bethesda Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Ellen Gregg Deem; three sons, Gary Michael (Missy) Deem of Mineral Wells, Gregg Allen (Amy) Deem of Columbus, Ohio and Mark Wayne (Christy) Deem of Vienna ; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Christopher Guy. Funeral services for Gary will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2016 at Vienna Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Cunningham officiating. Private family burial will follow at South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Doddridge County. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV and two hours prior to the service at at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Dept.
