Gary Lee Caplinger, 69 of Parkersburg went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1948 in Parkersburg, son of the late Clarence Emmett and Lena Allman Caplinger. He was a U.S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient during the Vietnam War. He served his country for 23 years. He worked for Concepts West and was leader of the Men's Prayer Group of the Gateway Apostolic Church. Gary loved to fish, hunt and camp. Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia Charlton Wagoner Caplinger; two daughters, Tonya Kelley and Allison Wagoner; four sons, Woodrow Wagoner, David Caplinger, John Caplinger and Destry Todd; one sister, Gloria Headley; one brother, Sonny Caplinger; and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Marshall, Kelsey, Jonathan, Legarette, Brayden and Braiden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Kay Hopkins, Carolyn Johnston, Faith Monroe and Beverly Phillips. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Pastor Steven A. Joy officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg.
