Frank Plybon, Jr., 81 of Parkersburg, W.Va., went home to his heavenly reward on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. Born in Huntington, W.Va., on August 28, 1929, he was the eldest son of the late Rev. George Franklin Plybon, Sr. and Bertha Gill Plybon.He was a graduate of Union HS (Monroe Co.), Morris Harvey College and the Duke Divinity School. He was ordained a deacon in the West Virginia United Methodist Conference in 1952, and an elder in 1954, and served the St Luke's UMC in Craigsville, Franklin and Mt. Zion UMC in Pendleton Co., Calvary UMC in Keyser, 7th Street UMC in Parkersburg, Rosemar UMC in Parkersburg, W.Va. and was currently serving the Smithville UM Charge comprised of Bethany, Bethel Chapel , Burnt House, King Knob, and Smithville. He also served as a pastoral assistant to the District Superintendent and had been active in the Washington UMC between appointments. He was a charter member of the Craigsville Lions Club and recently attended their 50th year celebration last May and was currently a member of the Parkersburg Lion's Club. Frank along with four others held monthly services at the Regional County Jail and Bible study and services at the Wood County Jail.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marsha Clark Plybon; his daughters and sons-in-law, Delegate Bob and Rachel Beach of Morgantown, W.Va. and Craig and Leanna Prater of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Reagan Prater, Emily Prater, Sam Beach and Bob Beach; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Jim) Howard; brother and sister-in-law, John (Joan) Plybon, Summerfield, NC, and Dr. Ben Plybon, Lewisburg, W.Va.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Frank is survived by Georgie Mae (Dan) Biser and Charles “Chip” Bolyard who were like children to him.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Marlene Greynolds Plybon.Frank will be remembered for his many loves: love of his Lord, love of people in general, love of his ministry, love of his family, love of music, history, trains, PHS and WVU football, Bob Evans, and his gift of humor. Frank will also be remembered as a man who lived a life that he preached about every Sunday, Kingdom living now living in the Kingdom of God.Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington United Methodist Church, Washington, WV, with Rev. Dr. Ken Krimmel, Rev. David Calvert, and Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside service and interment will be 3:00 p.m.Wednesday, in the Chapel at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMCOR, The American Bible Society, Gideons International or your personal Sunday School.
