Frederick Albert Miller, 83, of Washington, W.Va., left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on April 13, 2015 at Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born May 14, 1931, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Hassler Miller.Fred was a 1949 graduate of Parkersburg High School and he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp from 1950-1954 where he was a plane captain and served on aircraft carriers during the Korean War.He retired from E.I. Dupont with over 36 years of service.He enjoyed reading, square dancing, coached Little League baseball for several years and spending time with his family.He was a member of Calvary Memorial Church where he served on the Missions Board, Government Board and Budget Committee.He loved studying the Bible and prophecies.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel L. Tanner Miller; children, Deborah A. Stout (Robert) of Parkersburg, Paula K. Culley (Audie) of Montezuma, Iowa, George F. Miller of Parkersburg, Sarah E. Layfield (Terry) of Elkins, W.Va., Lisa G. Sutton (Robert) of Burlington, N.C., Leslie R. Ruble (Gayle) of Adrian, Mich. and Rebecca L. Godfrey (Timothy) of Combined Locks, Wis.; grandchildren, Kristen Blasinski, Justin Layfield, Melissa Culley, Jessica Kelly, Julie Hunter, Whitney and Brooke Miller, Leah, Milena, Ryan and Jayden Ruble; great-grandchildren, Bentley Blasinski, Kenzie Atkinson, Lucas Kelly and Casen Layfield; and step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jake, and Maddie Blasinski, and Maiya and Maddox Fenton..In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul J. Miller.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Calvary Memorial Church with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg and from noon until time of services on Thursday at the church.
