Frederick “Fred” Eugene Morgan, Sr., 85 of Washington, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 01, 2025, at home.Fred was born at home in Hinton, WV on October 17, 1940, son of the late Kyle Eugene and Alice Rebecca (McDowell) Morgan. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Wilson; and infant brother, Kyle Burdette; in-laws including brother-in-law, Eugene Meadows; and son-in-law ‘Greg’ White. Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Deanna Lee (Easter) Morgan. They met in Ravenswood, WV, where his family had relocated while he was serving in the Airforce at the 7505th USAF field hospital in Burderop Park, England. Deanna worked in Charleson at the WVDMV processing returning veterans drivers licenses and her heart skipped a beat when she saw “Freddy” was back home. They married August 23, 1963, in Ravenswood, WV, and eventually moved to Parkersburg, WV for work and joined Grace Baptist Church. In 1967 the church supported Fred and Deanna starting a Bible Study in their home which eventually constituted as Fairlawn Baptist Church, now located at the intersection of Routes 50 and 68. Fred was a charter member of Fairlawn Baptist church and an ordained deacon. He served many years educating and loving children, as VBS director, pre-school teacher and teaching children’s missions. Fairlawn Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. Fred was on the committee to form the state convention, West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. He served the state convention in various roles including, president, recording secretary and served on various committees for the national convention. Fred worked 33 years in Washington, WV at the plant site for Marbon, Borg-Warner and GE Plastics when he retired.Fred’s passion for reaching children and ministering to them was demonstrated through his involvement with Operation Christmas Child. He began the shoebox ministry at Fairlawn which grew to becoming a regional drop-off center. He also led mission trips to Boone, NC for shoebox processing and distribution.He is survived by two sisters Kay Fancis Meadows of Perrysburg, OH; Judith Morgan Wolfe of Belpre, OH; his aunt that was like a sister Martha Morgan Rookstool of Talcott, WV; his two children Frederick “Rick” Eugene Morgan, Jr. (Julie) of Washington, WV, Jeanette Lee Morgan White of Ripley, WV. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Woodrow “Woody” Bate White (Emily) of Ripley, WV; Jaylyne (Morgan) Freshour (Chase) of Morgantown, WV; William “Will” Morgan White (fiancé Kirsten) of Ripley, WV; Wyatt Emerson White of Hannahan, SC. And four great-grandchildren Everly, Charlotte, Grayson and Caroline.Fred and his wife Deanna were also adoptive grandparents over the years to many children in their church when their grandparents were not able to be with them. They still talked about each of them, and all have a special place in their hearts.If you got to meet Fred, it wouldn’t be long before he’d be asking or trying to find out if you had a relationship with Jesus. Then he’d find out if you had a church you were actively attending. And if the answer was no, he’d be telling you about Jesus, but more importantly showing you his love and inviting you to his church. And so, we are inviting you once again on behalf of Fred.A Celebration of Life for Fred will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, at 4:30 pm at Fairlawn Baptist Church, Parkersburg with Dr. Kyle Neal officiating. Military rites will be observed. Visitation will be three hours preceding the service from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the church.
