Frederick L. “Fred” James, 72, of Parkersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1944, in Morgantown, W.Va., son of the late Willard James and Maxine Elrick Knotts. Fred served two years in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Dept. of Highways State of WV Weight and Scales after 25 years of service. He enjoyed watching western movies, the mountains and spending time with his family. Fred is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kay Corns James; daughter, Michelle Irvine (Randy) of Williamstown, W.Va.; granddaughter, Hayley Irvine; brothers, Gary Knotts (Beth), Jim Knotts (Vera) and David Knotts all of Ravenswood, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his step-father, Ira Knotts whom he loved as his own father. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Ed Beatty officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
