Kenneth W. Metz

January 6, 1949 — October 18, 2024

Kenneth W. (Kenny) Metz, 75, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1949 to the late Charles W. and Nellie M. Metz. He fought a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Kenny retired from Ames Co. with 34 years of service. He also worked for Park Tours and Wood County Schools. He was President of Steelworkers Local 1651. He taught Hunters Education Classes.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time at his cabin in Ritchie County. He was the best husband, father, papaw, and great papaw. He was the most kind, generous, loving man and would give anyone a helping hand. He knew no strangers.

Kenny served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971, eighteen months of which was in the Vietnam War. He was a Seargent. He loved his country and was a true American hero.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy; his son, Brian (Jessica); two grandchildren, Brittany Harding (Dallas) and Brody Metz (Megan); and two great granddaughters, Ivy Harding and Kennedy Metz (his namesake.) He is also survived by his brother, Mickey; two sisters, Carol Sullivan and Cheryl Metz; and too many more to mention.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie Metz and his twin Dennis Metz.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses in the ICU at Camden Clark, especially Summer. She went beyond the call of duty for Kenny.

Funeral service with full military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Daniel Ahart officiating.
