Fannie Emily “Pete” Mills, 100 of Parkersburg passed away at The Willows Center on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born in Tariff, WV on March 31, 1918 to Asbury Marcellius and Vonnie French (McGlothlin) Looney. As a young woman, “Pete” moved to Parkersburg to work at the American Viscose. When WWII commenced she was employed by the Goodyear Company in Akron, Ohio assembling airplanes. She was one of many “Rosie the Riveters” supporting the war on the home front. This was personal to “Pete”. Her husband-to-be, George was in the service as too were her brothers. “Pete” and George wrote letters each and every day for the five years they were apart and soon married upon his return. She was interviewed by several university researchers about her experiences and the role females played during the war. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Leigh and husband, Philip Scibilia of Kinnelon, NJ; and her grandson, Andrew Philip of Haddon Heights, NJ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Mills, Jr.; two brothers, Asbury “Jack” Looney and Daniel Looney; and most recently her sister, Edith Bullard. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St. Parkersburg with Philip Scibilia officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.
