Evelyn E. Wade

Evelyn Wade passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012. She was born in Vincent, Ohio on August 13, 1917, the middle child of the late Viola Shaw Thompson and Orville E. Thompson. She was a 1935 graduate of Vincent High School and attended Mountain State College.Evelyn was a Charter Member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served for many years. She and her husband, Jack, were in charge of the church Food Pantry for 12 years and taught Sunday School for many years. Evelyn was an avid football fan and card player. She had a long and diverse work career. She was beloved by many.She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, H. JackWade, who died March 31, 1998; one sister, Mildred Smith of Philippi, W.Va., and three brothers, Clarence, Clealonand Chester Thompson, all of Orlando, Florida. She is survived by three daughters, Marcia and Gary Fisher of Marietta, Ohio; Susan and Jeffrey Young, of Staunton, Virginia and Bonnie and Alfred Scalia of Elkins, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Chris Woods, Brian Scalia, Kate and Evan Staggs, and Wesley Young; two step-grandsons, Jason and Shuri Fisher and Ryan Fisher; two step-great-granddaughters, Tyler andJordonFisher; and three sisters-in-law,Helen Thompson, Corinne Wade and Eunice Thompson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
