Evelyn V. Gilchrist

Evelyn V. Gilchrist, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away January 10, 2019 at Cedar Grove Personal Care Center. She was born January 29, 1932, in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Maurice and Reda Burkhart Tefft. Evelyn was born and raised on a farm and loved gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at JUR Theater as a secretary. She was a member of the Faith Gospel Church. She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Davies (Gavin) of Canberra, Australia; one son, Robert “Ed” Gilchrist (Julie) of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Cory Gilchrist, Vanessa Allen (Tim), Jacob Davies and Erin Gregory (Sean); one great-grandson, Carson Allen; and one brother, Maurice Tefft (Paulette) of Parkersburg; In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Gilchrist; one daughter, Connie Gilchrist; one granddaughter, Rachel Davies; one great-grandson, Carter Allen; one sister, Ruby Webb; and one brother, Lewis Tefft. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Sean Law officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
