Eugene W. “Bill” Martin was born on September 29, 1924, the son of Mrs. Verna Martin. He passed away on October 18, 2019 at CCMH surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Martin in 1969, his significant other, Violet Gregg, and his brother, Richard “Dick” Martin. He was a WWII veteran and was a waist-gunner on a B-17 flying fortress. After the war, he was employed by Corning Glass Works for more than 40 years before retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golfing and loved spending all his free time with his family. He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Jeff) Howe, his grandchildren, Matthew (Joyce) Johnson, Brad (Amanda) Johnson, Justin (Lauren Valli) Howe, his great-grandchildren, Aidan and Lauren Johnson, Madeline and Avery Johnson, Everly Howe, and his special nephew, Eddie Martin. He is also survived by his extended family, Cyndi Allen, Shawn Gregg, Leighcie and Mika Gregg and all of their families. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. A private graveside memorial with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion Post #15. The family would like to thank doctors, nurses and staff on the Advanced Care Unit of CCMH for their kindness and support.
