Ernestine Fleming Robinson, 89 of Glenwood Retirement Community, Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Vienna, W.Va., passed away May 5, 2011at her residence. She was born Sept. 20, 1921 at Toll Gate, Ritchie County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Boyd and Marie Fleming, Pennsboro, W.Va. Ernestine graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1939, Mountain State Business College, Parkersburg in 1941 and attended the University of Charleston in 1942. She worked as a Secretary for the W.Va. Dept. of Public Assistance, War Manpower Commission during World War II, General Motors Corporation and the Veterans Administration in Charleston and Huntington, W.Va. Her last position was a Hearings Reporter for the Social Security Administration Law Judges in Charleston, W.Va. She married John C. Robinson on Aug. 6, 1949 at Christ Church Methodist, Charleston, W.Va. In retirement they traveled extensively to all 50 states and several foreign countries, including The Holy Land and Egypt. John predeceased her in death, Oct. 9, 2007. They were married 58 years. Belvia Fleming, her stepmother, died Dec. 7, 2009. Ernestine was a life member of Alpha Iota Sorority, serving twice as State President of West Virginiaetta Association. She was a 50 year member of Vienna Chapter No. 151 OES, Vienna Woman's Club, a member of Wayside United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Fellowship Sunday School Class. She is survived by a son, John David Robinson, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Joanne Denise Robinson, Belpre, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Robinson, a student at OSU in Columbus, Ohio where she was presented with The National Society of Collegiate Scholars award for commitment to the ideals of Scholarship, Leadership and Service. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna with Pastor Jim Lynch officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wayside United Methodist Church Building Fund.
