Ernest “Ernie” Michael Douglass, 71, of Parkersburg passed away July 16, 2025 at WVU Camden Clark. He was born August 22, 1953 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Daniel Brobst and Patricia Ann O’Brian Douglass.
He was a 1971 graduate from Parkersburg High School and graduated from WVU Law School in 1979. He practiced law with his dad, brother, and sister at Douglass & Douglass Law Firm. He served as Mental Hygiene Commissioner, was a court appointed attorney (public defender), and was a Children’s Legal Advocate. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was an elder and Sunday School President. His hobbies included pinball, billiards, chess, water aerobics, and playing the piano. He was an avid card player, enjoyed live music and dancing, and was known for organizing social events for family and friends.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Amanda Blake Douglass; two daughters, Jubal Leah Douglass Bauer (Jon) of Granville, OH and Kezia J. Douglass Parsons (Tom) of Parkersburg; two sons, Maghee M. Douglass (Ines) of Elleridge, MD and D”Risen S. Douglass (Maranda) of Parkesburg; a sister, Ellen Ann Douglass Dalton (Paul) of Herndon, VA; a brother, Daniel Brobst II of Parkersburg; and grandchildren, Miguel Douglass, Stacey Douglass, Charity Douglass, Piper Bauer, Odin Bauer, Kandis Alexander, Ollie Alexander, and Lilly Douglass.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jeanne Douglass.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, with Wayne Lee officiating. A private burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.
