Emmett Wayne Melrose, 74, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1944, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Forrest Glenn and Sylvia Bea Pyles Melrose. Wayne retired from Department of Highways after 17 years of service and also worked at Daugherty Propane for several years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, Mike and grandson, Dylan, working on small motors and doing lawn work. Wayne was also a member of Merrill Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda MidKiff Melrose; his children, Michael Melrose (Lisa) of Parkersburg, Kevin Melrose and Amy Melrose both of Slate, WV; two “adopted” daughters, Jamie Marion Cutlip and Tori Powell; one sister, Kathie Duncan of Mineral Wells; brother in-law, Melvin Boggs of Slate, WV; two grandchildren, Lacey Teets of Mineral Wells and Dylan Melrose of Parkersburg; two great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Paislee; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Villers and Connie Boggs; and brother in-law, Larry Duncan. A private family gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Lloyd Keith officiating. There will be a meal for the family and friends at 4 p.m. at the Chesterville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the American Diabetes Association in memory of Wayne.
