Ellen Adaline Brown

Ellen Adaline Brown, 90 of Vienna, passed away April 10, 2018 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born January 10, 1928 in Wood County, WV, the daughter of the late Roy and Viola Hale McLain. Ellen retired as State Executive Director for the Association for Retarded Citizens. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Past Matron Vienna Eastern Star, Past President Parkersburg Woman's Club, Lieutenant Civil Air Patrol, Retirees Club and the Blennerhassett DAR. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Gaines of Vienna; brother-in-law, Paul Dooley, Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Barbara DeLancey of Vienna and Kimberly Haase of Parkersburg; two great-grandchildren, Charli DeLancey (Devin) and Veronica Blosser (Zach); one great-great-granddaughter, Callie; special niece, Cathy Hayes and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Brown; one sister, Freda Wharton; one brother, Clyde McLain; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Wiseman. Funeral services for Ellen will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the St. John United Methodist Church, Vienna with Pastor John Lowther and Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with a 7:30 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star Service, Chapter #151, and visitation one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nemesis Shrine Transportation in memory of Ellen.
