Edwin Lee Porter Sr., a cherished resident of Washington, WV, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 8th, 1938, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Edwin was the beloved son of the late Edward and Daisy Porter.
A 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Edwin dedicated his professional life as a mechanic, spending his career at E.I. DuPont. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, including a year stationed in Korea. Edwin was an active member of his community, contributing to the Camden Avenue Church of Christ, I.O.O.F. Lodge #7, and South Parkersburg J-Cees. He cherished time spent hunting and fishing, as well as being with his family and attending his grandchildren's events.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Dye Porter. Edwin's legacy continues through his loving children: daughters Kelley Rader (Karl) and Teri Cox (Chris); sons Eddie Porter (Cindi), Gary Porter (Tammy), and Steve Porter (Raquel). He also leaves behind his cherished sister, Nina Cheuvront, and brother, Bill Porter.
Edwin was a proud grandfather to Shane, Chantel (Brett), Sacheen (Chris), Corey, Morgan, Chad (Charisse), Katelyn (Chris), Chase, Kyle, and Kelsey. His family extends to ten great-grandchildren, with another joyfully expected. His presence will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin's life was a testament to love, dedication, and community service. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Edwin's life at a funeral service on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Camden Avenue Church of Christ, officiated by Evangelist Doug Wells. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24th from 4-8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg. Edwin Lee Porter Sr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
