Jean Peters

June 16, 1932 — March 11, 2024

Jean Peters went home on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 91.

She was born in Reedsville, Meigs County, Ohio, a daughter of the late William “Bill” Atkinson and Pauline Chutes Atkinson Horner.

She was a faithful member of the Lord’s Church and worshipped with her spiritual family at Marrtown Road. Jean was devoted to God and her family. She enjoyed spending time listening to the Bible, traveling, especially to North Myrtle Beach and on cruises, painting, golfing, pitching horseshoes, and fishing. She would say, “my family is my life” and lived her life with her family.

In 1952 she married the love of her life, Robert “Rob” Lee Peters and they shared 61 years together until his death in 2014. It brings much comfort to know they are reunited to share eternity face to face with the Lord. Together they shared a wonderful life and left an amazing legacy.

She was blessed with four children, Teresa Y. Johnson, Cynthia L. Fleak (Ron), Robert J. “Butch” Peters (Debbie), and Angela J. Fluharty (Jeff); two children who were like her own, Sarah J. Veyon (Darrell) and Mark Peters (Loretta); 10 grandchildren, Janet Fleenor, Karen Sonder, L. Russ Johnson, Erik Stoops (Susan), Misi Hambrick (Ron), Anthony “Tony” Peters, Brian Peters, Shane Peters (Brandy), Nicole M. Venuso (Anthony), and Alexis T. Gilbert (Alexander); grandson-in-law, C. Aaron Fleenor; sixteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Liz McCardle, Susan Hennessey, and Mary Stoneking; special niece, Kathy LeMasters; friend and “sister” Susan Huron; her spiritual family; and many others who loved her dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Lela Blake, Connie Lamp, and William “Billy” Atkinson; son-in-law, Larry Johnson; and two grandsons, Erik Stoops and Brian Peters.

Her life will be honored 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Her loved ones will gather to receive friends 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
