Edith Lafern Buchanan

Edith L. Epling Buchanan, 87, of Elizabeth, passed away July 28, 2025 at the Elizabeth Care Center. She was born December 1, 1937 in Spencer, WV., a daughter of the late Esten L. and Juanita Simmons Epling.

She was a Wirt County High School graduate and worked in production for Dupont. She enjoyed crocheting, and attending church at Southern Baptist Fellowship in Elizabeth.

Edith is survived by her husband, Charles Buchanan; two sons, Steve Snider of Parkersburg and Mark Snider (Mary) of Vienna; grandchildren, Josh, Shane, and Adam Snider, Valerie Robinson, and Christina Wigal; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brooklyn, Paxton, Porter, Tiffany, and Christopher; one brother, Steve Epling of Elizabeth; and two sisters, Janet and Shirley, both of Spencer.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “Buck” Snider; second husband, James Cumberledge; her son, Mike Snider; two sisters, Joy and Grace; a brother, Stanley Epling; daughter-in-law, Sue Snider; and one granddaughter, Amy Schaffer.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg with John Watkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
