Duane “Snooky” Hoy Richards, a resident of Parkersburg, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on June 24, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, Duane was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
Duane proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that he cherished deeply. Following his military service, Duane dedicated his career to the steel industry, working as a steel worker at Viking Fabricators. He also spent several years contributing his skills at CGM in Vienna.
A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, Duane's passion for the team was unmatched, and in his younger years, he was an enthusiastic bowler. Family and friends will always remember his spirited nature and his love for life.
Duane is survived by his beloved sisters, Cathy Richards and Melissa Joy (Billy). He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Brandon Joy (Nikki), Matthew Joy (Natalie), Allison Joy (Colby), Roy Spellman Jr. (Sami), Cathy Eichhorn (Josh), and Teresa Elliott (Tim). His legacy continues through his great-nieces and nephews: Lauren, Lucy, Ava, Kaleb, Dominick, and Brighton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Monroe Richards and Blonda Ada Richards, his sister, Loretta Richards Spellman, and brother-in-law, Roy Spellman, Sr.
Family and friends are invited to honor Duane's life at a funeral service on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lambert Tatman Funeral Home in South Parkersburg. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the time of the service. Following the service, interment will take place at Hunt Cemetery in Grantsville, WV.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, reflecting the care and commitment to excellence that Duane exemplified throughout his life.
Duane Hoy Richards will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
