Dorothy Jean Lemon Swiger, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away at her home August 17, 2019 surrounded by her family, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born in Wood County, WV, daughter of the late James and Grace Lemon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors, especially while watching her great-grandchildren play. “To my great-grandkids: I loved you yesterday, I love you still, I always have….I always will!” She is survived by her son, Curtis Swiger; daughter, Deborah Swiger Richards; grandchildren, Misty Swiger, Bobbi Schrout, Angel Swiger, Larry Richards Jr., and Becky Rhodes; special nephew, Rollen Miller Jr., along with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Swiger who passed away in 1970; all of her siblings, Bernice Teters, Stella Miller, Betty Giffin, Nellie Taggart, Audra Lemon, Carl Lemon, Williard Lemon, and Woodrow Lemon; and son-in-law, Larry Richards Sr. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Regional Cancer Center for their efforts and love for Dorothy, and also to House Calls Hospice staff for helping to make her final days more comfortable. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg.
