Doris Jean Mason “Deanie” Ross, 76, of Vienna, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 27, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. She was born October 8, 1941 at the family home near Auburn, WV a daughter of the late Guy R. and H. Gae (Elder) Mason. After graduating from Harrisville High School in 1959, she went to work at the Bureau of Public Debt. She then married “The Love of Her Life”, the late George O. Ross on March 11, 1961. Doris was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1972. She transferred her membership from Auburn United Methodist Church, where she attended all through her childhood. Doris is survived by her son, Kevin O’Neal Ross of Vienna, WV; daughter, Kimberly Jean Santini of Vienna, WV; forever son-in-law, Martin Edward Santini of Marietta, OH; granddaughters, Lexie Brooke Santini of Parkersburg, WV, and Kayla Marie Ross of Washington, WV; grandson, Landon Blake Santini of Vienna, WV; sister, Wilma Mae Mason Summers and her husband Bus of Madison, WV; brother-in-law, Denzil “Trigger” Sommerville of Williamstown, WV; several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by husband George, who died August 11, 1979 as a result of an oil well accident; brothers, Harold Ray “Johnnie” Mason and his wife Glenola Wince Mason and Hayward Paul Mason, who passed away at 15 months old; sisters, Faye Irene Mason Watson and her husband, Stanley Paul “Buck” Watson and Mary Maxine Sommerville. Doris was a home maker for most of her life whose biggest joys were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the years she worked for Thomas J. Piehowicz, D.O. as a part time billing clerk at Selby General Hospital. She was adored and loved by everyone who knew her, a good friend, neighbor, and listener. Most of all she was completely devoted to her family, friends and church. The family would like to thank hospice nurse “Tina” for the comfort and peace she gave our Mom during her last moments. In lieu of flowers the family asks and per Doris’s request, that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Autism Speaks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Pastor Carolyn Nettles officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery at Berea, WV. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
