Date and Time of Service: Mon., Oct. 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. – Southposted 10/22/2010 at 3:28:39 PMDorcas E. Lockhart Godbey, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away October 20, 2010, at her residence. She was born February 5, 1921, in Wirt Co., W.Va., a daughter of the late Okey E. and Lillie Wade Windland.Mrs. Godbey was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery, her crossword puzzles, and walking. She was a longtime participant of the Parkersburg Homecoming 2 Mile Walk and in recent years, had been the oldest participant, having taken part in the walk up until the age of 87. She was a member of the Sams Creek Baptist Church and formerly a member of the Two Runs Baptist Church in Wirt County.Surviving is one daughter, Lois Jean Ayers (Howard) of Rockport, W.Va.; four sons, Harold R. Lockhart (Shirley) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Gerald “Gerry” R. Lockhart (Kay) of Washington, W.Va., Roy L. Lockhart, and Larry A. Lockhart (Delma), of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Glenna Craddock of Brandon, Miss., and Elizabeth “Betty” Buchanan (Alfred) of Lubeck, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Beth Buchman, Sherry Farnsworth, Harold Lockhart Jr. “H.R.”, Lori Lockhart, Angela McCoy, Jeri Lynn Ewing, Lisa Lockhart, Brenda Ware, and Michael Ayers; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emily, Luke, Abigail, John, Marcus, Allie, Magen, Cody, Madison, Christopher, Bella, and Jennifer; one great-great-grandson, Aaron; two sister-in-laws, Edna Windland of Palestine, W.Va. and Charlene Windland of LaGrange, Ky.; and her favorite cat, Tinkerbell.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar C. Lockhart in 1960; her second husband, Homer R. Godbey in 1968; and three brothers, Joseph, Earl, and Clyde Windland.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday October 25, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Robert Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Two Runs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Sunday October 24, 2010 and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
