Donzel C. Smith Sr., 81, of Washington, W.Va., passed away June 22, 2014, at the Willows Center.He was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Sandyville, W.Va., a son of the late Oliver and Vera Kingsbury Smith.Donzel served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He retired from E.I. DuPont in 1993. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed many years as the crew chief for his son, Darren.He is survived by his wife, Dolores Gorrell Smith; one daughter, Denise (Mark) Lindamood of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sons, Don (Dee) Smith, Darren (Carrie) Smith and Duane (Lisa) Smith, all of Washington, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Bill (Melissa) Root, D.C. (Vaneta) Smith, Joey (Kelsey) Lindamood, Adam Lindamood, Charley Smith and Maddy Smith, all of Parkersburg, Matt Lindamood of Chicago, Ill., and Lexie and Josh Smith of Washington, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Carpenter of Rockport and Fallon Lindamood and Taylor Smith of Parkersburg; one brother-in-law, Wayne Ankrum of Ravenswood, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Brigitte Gorrell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many special nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Lynn Smith; and a sister, Linda Smith Ankrum.Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Greg Varndell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Lubeck. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
