Sands, 68, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died July 2, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.He was born August 22, 1941, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late E.A. and Artie Stephens Sands.He was a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ. Don was a US Marine Corp veteran. He was also a homebuilder in the Vienna and Parkersburg area for over thirty years until his retirement in 2000.Surviving is his wife, Priscilla (Sams) Sands; two sons, Robert “Bob” Sands and wife Alberta of Vienna, WV, and Joseph “Brian” Sands of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Whitney, Tyler, Kylie, Brandon, and Mariah; one brother, Aubry Sands and wife Connie of Williamstown, W.Va.; three sisters, Wanda Bennett of Vienna, W.Va., Nieta Nicholas and husband Howard of Williamstown, W.Va., and Patty Anderson and husband Rex of Belpre, OH; several nieces and nephews; and three special buddies, Ralph Higgins, Jim Kelley, and Howard Sands.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Kenneth, and Wayne Sands; and one sister, Lona Ritchie.Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Monday July 5 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Tom Butterfield and Pastor Mark Mason officiating. Interment will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Sunday July 4 2010 at the funeral home.
