Donald Ray Wells

Donald Ray Wells of Parkersburg, WV was born November 7, 1941 and went to be with his Lord Friday, April 28, 2017. His family and friends were blessed to have him for 75 years. He is a 1959 Parkersburg High School graduate, attended Fairmont State College, WVU-P and Mountain State College. He was owner of D.R. Wells Tax Service for 50 years and Charter Member of Grace Gospel Church. He previously started Parkersburg H&R Block, was a WV State Tax Auditor at the Capitol and pastored three churches in Jackson County. He was also Credit Manager at Montgomery Wards and Church Business Administrator. He played the trumpet, guitar and sang. He cherished time with his family, loved to travel and helped anyone he could. He had a heart of gold, a sense of humor, a personality that captured all that knew him and he served the Lord faithfully. Don is reunited in heaven with his parents, John and Faye Wells; one brother, Ronald Wells; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wells; and his parents-in-law, Vernon and Gertrude Wilkison. Those left on this earth for him to watch over is his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra L. Wilkison Wells; three children, Angie Stewart and husband Mark, Keith Wells and wife Kelly and Andrea Mace and husband, Pat. He was an amazing grandpa to six grandchildren, Ashley Ong and husband, Christian, Nick Mace, Nathan Wells, Brooke Mace, Heather Wells and Zachary Wells. Shaelyn Ong, great-granddaughter, was papaws sidekick and the joy of his life. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family asks that you join them to celebrate his life and share memories with them Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg. A farewell service will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Benson officiating. His body will be laid to rest at Evergreen North Cemetery following the service.
