Donald Ray Brookover, born January 1, 1930, to Camden and Della Brookover in Parkersburg, W.Va. Being no longer in pain, Don passed away at Camden Clark Medical Center under the care of Hospice on October 13, 2015.At the age of 16, Don operated a Gulf station for five years, then serviced on the USS Currituck from 1951-1955. He was employed at Corning Glass until his retirement in 1989. Don had a wood working hobby building beautiful trains, and gardening and raising berry plants.Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Justine “Josie” Lee Brookover; his son, Berny (Linda) Brookover; daughter, Beverly (Steve) Matheny; sister, Betty Hayes; granddaughters, Angel (Will) Hamrick, Christy Hawkins, Angela Sue (Charlie) Hornbeck, and Amanda Rogers; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Chance, Niki, Lee and Kane; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Ray Brookover; brothers and sisters, Chuck Brookover, Helen Hart, Lottie Phillips, Cecil Brookover, and Imogene Brookover.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg with full military rites by American Legion Post #15.Special thanks to Dr. John Beane for his care for over 40 years and Hospice.In lieu of flowers, please donate to DAV in Cincinnati, Ohio.
