Donald Allen “Ducky” Jones 84, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. Born on July 25, 1941, in Doddridge County, West Virginia.
A proud Union man he worked at Kardex of Marietta Ohio, as a welder and as a Laborer with Labors Local 1085 of Wood County West Virginia.
Donald believed in the dignity of challenging work that built not only objects of purpose and beauty but also improved the lives of people around him. He found joy in painting, using brushstrokes to capture memory and imagination alike. Each canvas held a piece of his spirit.
Among his most beloved creations were the walking sticks he carved by hand. Each one was unique-carefully shaped and thoughtfully given as gifts. These handcrafted treasures became cherished keepsakes for those fortunate enough to receive them.
Donald also had a passion for vintage finds. He delighted in exploring thrift stores alongside his daughter savoring the thrill of rediscovering forgotten items steeped in history. Whether restoring or trading these pieces with fellow collectors, he believed every object held a story worth preserving.
Having accepted Christ as his Savior, Donald lived with the quiet assurance that Heaven awaited him-a belief that brought him peace and strength through all seasons.
Donald was preceded in death by his Father Royce Guy Jones; Mother Isabella Young; and siblings Jerry Jones, Alice Collins, Jimmy Jones, Judy Kragness, and Larry Jones.
He is survived by his daughters, Joanna Evans (Eric), as well as Stephanie Jacobs (Adam). His legacy continues through his grandchildren; Dr. Sarah Godby-Evans (Ethan), Emily Floyd (Nicholas), Noah Jacobs, Rachel Jacobs, Nathaniel Jacobs, and Kaylee Jacobs. He is also survived by his brother Charles Jones (Susan) and sister Madeline Barker.
His memory lives on in every painted canvas displayed; every walking stick passed from hand to hand and every vintage treasure shared among those who knew him. May his memory bring a smile to all who knew him.
Donald was laid to rest at Cabin Run Cemetery in Doddridge County.
