Don Ellis Cunningham

Rev. Don Ellis Cunningham, 83, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Feb. 6, 2015 at Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born June 10, 1931, in Ritchie County, W.Va., a son of the late Will and Tausa G. Wilson Cunningham.Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea and Vietnam. He received several commendations and medals that are on display at the Veteran's Museum in Parkersburg. He also received the Purple Heart Medal.He was called by the Lord to preach the Gospel and in 1974 he preached in a small Presbyterian building in Elizabeth for four years. He served at Sams Creek Baptist for two years and served for twenty four years at Calvary Temple. He served in Nursing Home Ministry at Worthington Manor and Cedar Grove Personal Care for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Karen C. Jordan Cunningham; daughters, Barbara Howerton (Virgil), Donna Skeen, Brenda Murrell (James), Dawn Ellen Maston (Doug), and Gail Kesterson (Todd); sons, William Arnold Cunningham, Randy Cunningham, and Dale Cunningham; step-daughters, Sabrina Edwards (Mike) and Lisa McVey (Tony); two brothers, Carroll Cunningham and Ronald Cunningham (Janet), both of Newark, Ohio; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Lura Nell VanStory West, the mother of his children; and three brothers.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9. 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Dale R. Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow at Palestine Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to4:00 p.m. Sunday, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
