Denver Earl Crew age 96, of Vienna, WV passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born March 17, 1921 in Roane County, WV, a son of the late Delbert and Virginia Vandel Crew. Denver was raised on a farm and went to Akron to work at the Goodyear Tire Plant. He enlisted in the Army and was a WW II Veteran. He came home from the service and worked for the US Postal Service where he retired. After retirement he started Crew Remodeling and Repair, where he was owner/operator. Denver was state president of Rural Mail Carriers for several years; a member of the American Legion Post 15; and a member of the WV Poetry Society for several years. He wrote several books; was an avid coin collector and loved traveling, where he collected several crocks and stoneware. Denver is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Snyder Crew; children, Kenneth Crew, wife Audra (Cookie) and son, Casey of Statesville, NC, Carol Crew of Statesville, NC, Edward Crew, wife Marian and two sons, Eric Crew, wife Leann and daughter, Lily and Kevin Crew of Statesville, NC; Charlotte Rankin and two daughters, Gypsy Morningstar and Jessica Rankin of New Martinsburg, WV; grandson, Jeremy Darling of Parkersburg; Randy Crew of Benson, NC and daughter Ashley Crew; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by children, Dianna Proffitt of Parkersburg, Mary Richards of Parkersburg, Sandra Wiseman, husband Mason of Fleming, Ohio, Christine Stalnaker, husband Scott of Richburg, SC and David Dotson, wife Julie of Fort Lawn, SC; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Denver was preceded in death by children, Donna Crew, Mitizie Crew and Paul “Buddy” Dotson; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Pastor Bill Brown officiating and full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
