Delbert J. Matheny, 88, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.He was born in Wood County, W.Va., the son of the late James and Anna Mae Stienhoff Matheny.He was a 1941 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze star. He was a member of V.F.W. 1212, Parkersburg and a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was retired from DuPont with 37 years of service.He is survived by two sons, Larry, of Washington, W.Va. and Jerry of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Doris Cook, and husband, Danny, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Brenda Matheny, both of Washington, W.Va.; two great-grandsons, Timothy and Nicholas Perkins; and two brothers, Robert Matheny of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and William (Billy) Matheny of Parkersburg, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Irene Matheny; a sister, Beulah Caltrider; and brothers, Harry, Roy and infant brother, Richard.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Reverend Kevin Lantz officiating.Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military graveside rites by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
