David “Dave” William Parker, 75, of Marietta, OH, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at WVU Medicine Camden Clark after a brief illness.
Son of the late Howard Smith Parker and Edith Reed Parker, Dave was born December 16, 1949 in Parkersburg, WV.
Dave and his wife Cheryl owned Lafayette Motors in Marietta, OH for 23 years. Dave loved the car business; and his many customers. He was a 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School. After high school he joined the United States Army; and served in Okinawa, Japan. He worked on missile silos. He was also an avid sports fan. He loved the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Miami Dolphins.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cheryl Lynn Parker. He had known Cheryl since she was nine years old. Dave is also survived by his daughters, Michelle Norman (Ed Moon) of
Marietta, OH, Kelly Gobel (Stu) of Woodbine, GA, and Jeanie Whitehead (Roger) of Canton, OH; granddaughter, Olivia Farson (Colt) of Parkersburg, WV, grandson, Billy of Canton, OH, brother Don Parker (Tonya) of Parkersburg, WV, sister Beth Parker Rossi (Frank) of Malvern, PA. Dave was also survived by his lifelong friend Carlos White; who he dearly loved; his special friends Kathie and Asa Matthews, Judy Short, Aunt Tammy, Dwight Riggs who helped Dave start his car business in Marietta, and his fur-baby, Gabby. Cheryl would like to thank Kathie, Judy, and Tammy for their help with Dave’s care.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his sisters, Flo, Sharon, Janis, and Susan; and his brother, Howard Jr.
Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with Dr. Chris Longgrear officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home Vienna is honored to serve the Parker family.
