David Cox

David B. Cox, age 73 of Vienna, WV passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1953, in New York City, NY, a son of the late Charles and Dorothy Newcomer Cox. David graduated from Ravenswood High School Class of 1971 and Glenville State University with an Accounting Degree. He had previously worked at Kaiser Aluminum; was a CPA for Perry Associates and owner of Appalachian Water Beds. He enjoyed genealogy, golfing, and traveling with his wife throughout the Northeast.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Candy K. Proffitt Cox; his siblings, Christa Cox-Watanabe (Noriyasu) of Tokyo, Japan, Laura Cox ( Joe Blizzard) of Winfield, WV and Tim Cox (Denise) of Ravenswood, WV; his brothers & sister-in-law, Danny Proffitt of Lancaster, OH, Kenny Cozart of Portland, OH, Randy Proffitt of Mocks Corner, SC and Sandy Mapson of Champagne, IL; nieces and nephews, Yasuyo Watanabe, Gordon Blizzard, Tracy Currey (Jacob), Jesse Cox, Tammy Mapson (George), Travis Mapson, Heath Proffitt and Jennifer Parker and close friends, David and Lynn Stone.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Cox; sister-in-law, Patty Cozart; nieces and nephews, Charlie Blizzard, Amber Cox, Elaine Cox, Bryan Cox, Keith Cox and Shane Mapson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
