Danny Laroy Platt, 73 of Parkersburg passed away May 1, 2017 after an extended illness at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born September 26, 1943 in Burley, Idaho son of the late Parley P. Platt, Sr. and Evelyn Mae Osbourne Platt. He was retired from the U.S. Army after more than 21 1/2 years of service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing, spending time in the outdoors and spending time with family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife of 43 1/2 years, Linda Carder Platt; a daughter, Sherry (Matt); two sons, Danny (Crystal) and TJ (Karen); a sister, Judy (Jon); two brothers, John (Carol) and David (Ruth Ann); step-mother, Alice; several half-siblings; ten grandchildren; and two fur babies, Ruby and Lady. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Parley Jr. The family would like to send a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their service and care. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Bishop John Platt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. It was Danny's wish that his body be donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry.
