Daniel Ray Goodwin

Daniel Ray Goodwin, 67 of Vienna, WV passed away on April 17, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH. Born on December 6, 1949 in Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of John L. and Arnetta Strother Goodwin. Dan is survived by his wife of 48 years Patricia Hammett Goodwin; an aunt, Verona Enoch of Vienna, WV; three daughters, Tracey Province (Gary) of Parkersburg, WV, Angela DalBello (Teryn) of Tucson, AZ, and Sherry Swiger (James) of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Willa Jean Wiant Queen of Bridgeport, WV, Orpha Mae Anderson (Buck) of Perry, GA; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Goodwin of Belpre, OH. He was also blessed with three grandchildren, Tony Province, and Hailey and Collin Swiger who will remember him fondly as their “Grampy.” He was close with his nieces who the family thought of as “sisters, ”Sandra Laird, Debbie Jett, and Darlene Jett and had many other nieces and nephews who were dear to him as well. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers William “Paul” and John Jr.; and two sisters, Sandra Goodwin and Betty Jett (Robert). A 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Dan enjoyed working as an automobile mechanic. He had a lifelong love of fast muscle cars and opened a service station of his own in Belmont, WV. Dan was in the process of restoring a 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible that he and his wife bought new. Dan always looked forward to the annual Hammett family reunion trip to the Outer Banks in NC. Dan was employed as a shop manager at Tire Track in Vienna for many years, and K and G Distributing in Parkersburg, WV. Some of his friends may remember him working at Randy Givens Car Care Center where he was in charge of the oil change area. He was employed by Belpre Schools, Mid Ohio Valley Medical Group, and Parkersburg Women’s Center as a custodian. He retired from Vienna Wal-Mart where he worked as a greeter. He instilled a strong work ethic within his three daughters. He was an honest man who was always loyal to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a man of integrity and strong values who was deeply loved by all who knew him. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna with Pastor Mark Eaton of Porterfield Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Hammett Cemetery, Pleasants County. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
