Date and Time of Service: no serviceposted 10/12/2010 at 9:51:43 AMDale Edward Smith, 69, of Rockport, W.Va., passed away on October 9, 2010, at his residence.He was born June 11, 1941, in Beaver Falls, Pa., a son of the late Wade I. and Dortha Horseman Smith.Dale had been in the auto business for 25 years, having worked for Nationwise Auto and D&J Auto Parts. He then worked at Marietta Ignition/Parkersburg Auto from which he retired in June 2007. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. He loved football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nascar and fishing.He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Phyllis Smith; two daughters, Lisa Kay (Farrow) Burns and husband, Mike, and Connie Sue (Davis) Alvis and husband, Edward; five grandchildren, Jeffery Farrow and wife, Brittany, Kendall Farrow, Kaylie Farrow, Keria Burns and Dillon Davis; brother-in-law and loving caregiver, Dale “Bub” Barker; two nephews, Brian Pratt and Brendan Pratt; one aunt, Ruthie (Crawford) Pegg and husband, Dick, and their children; and several other aunts, uncles, step-brothers and sisters.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-mother, Dathel Smith; one sister, JoAnn Pratt; and two twin great-granddaughters.Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va.Memorials may be made to the family in care of, Phyllis Smith, 74 Limestone Dr., Rockport, WV 26169.
