Clinton Curtis Whytsell

October 3, 1959 — August 31, 2025

Parkersburg

Clinton Whytsell, 65, of Parkersburg, passed away on August 31, 2025 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Clint was born on October 3, 1959, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was the son of Kose and Emma Joan Whytsell. Clint attended Parkersburg South High School, from which he graduated in 1977. For may years, Clint was employed by Parkersburg Nissan and at Black’s Motorsports in Parkersburg.

In his younger years, Clint was a talented competitor in motocross races across the country. He competed in the Black Water 100, which was considered the toughest race in America, taking place in the rugged terrain outside Davis, WV. He also placed second in AMA Grand National Cross-Country races and competed in the Big Bear 100, among many other races. He enjoyed power sports throughout his life, and fondly recalled his motocross days.

Clint is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Joan and father, Kose. He is survived by his son, Dustin Whytsell of Parkersburg; sister, Cheryl Himelrick (John) of Parkersburg; brother, Harold Whytsell (Cyndi) of Mineral Wells, and four nephews.

St. Thomas Aquinas said that “There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship,” and in Clint’s case this rung true. He was blessed from the time he was a boy to his final days with four lifelong friends: Gary Wilson, Mark Romine, Ken Skinner, and Stu Davis. These friends were with him for decades, though good and bad. We could all be so lucky to have such friendship in our lives.

The family would like to thank Housecalls Hospice nurses, John Purinton and Patti Laluk, Mary Labarre of WVU Medicine Camden Clark and Comfort Keepers for their care and compassion.

A Gathering of friends and family will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg.

Lambert Tatman Funeral Homes and Crematory has been entrusted with Clint’s final wishes and are honored to serve his family.
