Claude Duane Cayton

Claude Duane Cayton, 79, of Mineral Wells, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born August 3, 1940, in Lewis County, WV, a son of the late Granville Alexander and Harriett Beatrice Lucille Wilson. Claude retired from the Local Iron Workers Union #787. He had a great sense of humor and was a member of Southside Southern Baptist Church. He is survived by his four sisters, Evelyn Moneypenny of Weston, WV, Norma Cowley of Parkersburg, Mattie McClung of Chesterfield, VA and Helen Carder of Mineral Wells; three brothers, Thorne Cayton (Donna) of Weston, Bill Cayton (Dee) of Walkersville and Charlie Cayton (Karen) of Mineral Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Myers; one brother, James “Bud” Cayton; and five brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, with Pastor Paul Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery in Walkersville, WV. at approximately 3 pm. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank his neighbor and good friend, Gene Cumpston who was like a brother to Claude for always coming to his rescue.
