Clarence Richard Leasure, 84, affectionately known as Buck, was born on December 6, 1941, and passed away to be with the Lord on August 18, 2026, with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Russell Leasure (Bud) and Doris Cline Leasure; and his two sisters, Barbara Leasure (Sissy) and Carolyn Leasure Fordyce and our precious angel babies.
Buck graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1961. Throughout his working years, he worked for Mon Power Company, Walker Caterpillar, and Stephens Construction before retiring from the Parkersburg Utility Board in 2003. He was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war as a radio operator until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Buck was a lifelong member of Big Tygart Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon from early adulthood until the last four years. He also served on board the Big Tygart Cemetery Committee and helped maintain the records and upkeep of the cemetery.
Buck enjoyed many things in life, especially trout fishing, and watching sports — particularly baseball (Go Cincinnati Reds!). He was known to lie on the floor, watch the game on tv, listening to the radio on his headsets since they did a better job at narrating. He enjoyed working on the farm and sawing lumber on the sawmill. He had a gift for figuring out problems and learning new things. He could improvise, repair equipment, and solve problems with a skill that came naturally to him. Once he had mastered something, he became bored with it and was ready for the next challenge.
His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, and he loved sharing this verse during devotions. We will especially miss hearing his “Amens” during church services. Even as dementia took its toll, he was still able to say his “Amen” in all the right places during the sermon. He was truly a soft-spoken gentleman.
Above all, Buck's greatest legacy was his family. He was proud of us, encouraged us, and loved us unconditionally. To him, it never mattered whether someone was family by blood or by “adoption”—he loved us all the same.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Charlotte Daggett Leasure. His children, Ellen (Bob) Bean, Charlene (Richard) Wilson, Rusty (Sandy) Leasure, and Michelle (Mike) Collins. Grandchildren, Bobbi Teters, Jeremy (Jerry Wright) Bean, Andy (Shawna) Wilson, Billy (Amber) Wilson, James Wilson, Lindsay (Mike) Kupfner, Brandon (Jenna) Leasure, Amy (Jason) Boone, and Kandace Collins. Great-grandchildren include Tyler, Emma, Liam, Jackson, Ellee, Leon, Hunter, Zayden, Harper, Baylor, Henley, Aubree, Riggins, Laynee, Dade, and Jake.
His adopted family includes Rusty and Julie Hall; grandchildren Travis (Brooke) Hall and Jasmine (Matt) Fogle; and great-grandchildren Madison, Chase, Brantley, Avery, and Parker.
He is survived by two siblings, Bill (Neva) Leasure and Donna (Dan) Daley.
Buck leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, kindness, hard work, and love. He will be deeply missed by everyone who has the privilege of knowing and loving him, but we find comfort knowing he is now with the Lord.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg with Rev. Bernard Thrash officiating.
