Christina Dawn Williams Rivera

Christina Dawn (Somerville) Williams-Rivera Christy Rivera, 49, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2018 in Las Cruces. It was the end of her brave four year battle with stage four cancer. Christy was born December 17, 1968 in Parkersburg and was raised here until she left for college. She joined Wood County 4-H at age ten years and loved being at camp, the fair and other 4-H activities. She attended Grace Gospel Church, Vacation Bible School and Word of Life Teen activities. She graduated from Parkersburg South High School in 1987 and was in the marching band, playing the flute. She went to West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and graduated in December 1991. She worked as a Pharmacist from January 1992 until January 2018. Christy will be lovingly missed by her husband, Andre Rivera; her children, Morgan and Wyatt Williams; step-children, Andre Rivera Jr, McKenna and Maya Rivera; and her parents Joseph and Nancy (Ramey) Somerville. Funeral services were held in Las Cruces on Friday, February 9, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Grace Gospel Church, Pettyville with Pastor Roger Benson officiating. Please come and share your memories of Christy. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Christy’s family request that donations be made to Casting for Recovery.org. She attended this retreat during her battle with cancer and it impacted her greatly. Her family would like to help others attend this retreat.
