Chester Wayne Gault

May 9, 1944 — August 24, 2025

Vienna, WV

Chester W. Gault , 81, of Vienna, WV, died on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his home. He was born on May 9, 1944 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Amos and Margaret (Barnes) Gault.

He was a 1962 graduate of Parkersburg High School. On December 11, 1964, he married Sandra Harris and they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage together. Chester worked as a soda jerk at Park Pharmacy, in the meat department at Kroger’s, in the lab at Corning Glass, and after 39 years, he retired as a Senior Lab Analyst from DuPont in 2003. He was a member of the Beechwood Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg, WV where he served as an elder and deacon. He lived a magical life. He performed his first paid magic show in 1956 when he was 12 years old. Later, with his wife, they traveled up and down the east coast from NY to SC performing magic as the “Great Gault and Sandra with their Magic on Parade” show. He performed for Christmas parties, conventions, banquets, fairs, birthday parties, and thousands of shows for schools. He performed his last magic show on July 25, 2024 in New Martinsville, WV. He had a passion for magic and entertaining audiences and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians Order of Merlin and the last founding member of Tommy Windsor Magic Ring #197. He played tennis and golf, was an avid movie goer, wrote poetry, oil painted, and cheered for the WVU mountaineers and the Parkersburg Big Reds. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family and playing with all his grandchildren.

Chester is survived by his beloved family: two sons, Gregory (Megan) Gault of Marietta, OH and Bradley Gault of Mineral Wells, WV; three granddaughters, Cameron (Justin) Allman of Pettyville, WV, Madison Gault of Marietta, OH and Ashtyn Gault (Logan Nay, fiancé) of Mineral Wells, WV; one grandson, Ethan Gault of Marietta, OH; and great-grandchildren, Dayton and Baylor Allman and Axton Nay.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Gault; his sister, Naomi Gault and his brother, Elmo Gault.
