Charles Edward O'Dell

Charles Edward O'Dell, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 5, 2015 with his wife of 63 years and his loving family by his side.He was born May 8, 1931, in Parkersburg, to the late Emery B. and Mary E. Brannon O'Dell.Charles was a 1949 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired after 43 years of service from Union Carbide/Eramet.He enjoyed electronics and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and especially loved spending time with his family.He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a devoted friend of Bill W.He is survived by his wife, Agnes Boso O'Dell; one daughter, Sandra Kay Scott of Parkersburg; two son-in-laws, Allan Scott of Marietta, Ohio and Darrell Simmons of Parkersburg; two grandsons, Chad Simmons (Michelle) of Davisville, W.Va. and David Scott (Angie) of Parkersburg; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Simmons, Austin Curtiss, Dante Curtiss, Hunter Alexis Simmons and Alyssa Smith.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lea Simmons; and one granddaughter, Dreama N. Simmons.There will be no visitation or services and according to Charles' wishes his body will be donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry.A Memmorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2404 – 10th Ave. Parkersburg, WV 26101 The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice for their excellent care and encouragement.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Amedisys Hospice or Trinity United Methodist Church.Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg will be assisting the family with arrangements.
