Charles Clifford Childress, Jr.

Charles “Charlie” Childress, Jr., 87, of Parkersburg, passed away June 8, 2026 at the Madison at Oviedo in Oviedo, Florida. He was born August 18, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama, a son of the late Charles Sr. and Clarice Cummings Childress.

Charlie worked for the social security administration until he retired. His faith showed throughout his life and was extended as a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his sons, Todd Childress and Michael Childress (Lois). Along with his sons, he is survived by his two grandchildren Brittany Andrews (Kyle) and Matthew Childress and two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Charlotte Andrews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Childress; his sister, Carmen Brown; and his brother-in-law, William Brown.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026 at South Parkersburg Baptist Church, Blizzard Dr., with Pastor Adam Paff officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will accept friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lambert Tatman Funeral Home has been entrusted with Charlie’s final wishes and are honored to serve the Childress family.
