Carroll “C. W.” Ayers, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away June 15, 2014 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility in Parkersburg.He was born February 28, 1934 in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Kenneth M. and Ada Boice Ayers.C.W. was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he was sergeant of special divisions. He belonged to Mount Olivet Lodge #3, Valley of Parkersburg, Scottish Rite Guard, where he had received his KCCH, Nemesis Shrine, and was a member of the Director Staff. He also belonged to the Order of The Eastern Star, Parkersburg Chapter #14, Ben Bay Grotto, Junior Order United American Mechanics, and was an active member of the Christian Men's Fellowship. C.W. was an amateur Short Wave Radio Operator for 55 years and a member of the QCWA Club. He enjoyed photography and also had earlier in his life developed and printed his own pictures. C.W. was retired from Monongahela Power Company with 38 years of service. He was a member of the Rosemar United Methodist Church. C.W. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Harris Ayers; one son, Steven B. Ayers (Debbie) of Vienna, W.Va.; one daughter, Tanya L. Underwood (Butch) of Williamstown, W.Va.; two grandsons, Ryan Ayers and Dean Underwood; and one sister, Janet Sue Patterson of Parkersburg, W.Va.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Vienna, W.Va. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by the American Legion Post #15 and Masonic Rites by Lodge #3. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
