Carless G. Phillips, 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away July 1, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 12, 1934 in Walton, W.Va., a son of the late George Mayford and Claudie Moore Phillips. He graduated from Walton High School in Roane County, W.Va. and served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and the U.S. Army. He retired from Lucent Technology (formerly AT&T) and Pickering Electric (at DuPont) as a telephone technician. He was a former Boy Scout leader. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed golfing and farming. He was a Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Shirley Ann Byers Phillips; three sons, Richard Phillips of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Danny Phillips (JoEllen) of Parkersburg and Berry Phillips (Sonja) of Hurricane, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Keller (Rick) of Washington, W.Va.; three brothers, Sebert Phillips (Vida) of Rockport, W.Va., Averal Phillips (Marilyn) of Ravenswood, W.Va. and Harold Phillips (Connie) of Washington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Garnett Starcher. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Pastor Randall Kochersperger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors by the Army National Guard Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
